The Lexington Hotel in New York has dropped its affiliation with Radisson, and is now an independent hotel.
The company managing the property, Highgate Hotels, said the 712-room hotel now is known as the Lexington New York City.
The midtown Manhattan hotel will undergo a multimillion-dollar renovation to “reinvent the building that was once home to American icons Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe,” said property owner DiamondRock Hospitality.
The renovation is scheduled to be completed in April. The hotel will remain open throughout the redo.
“Guestrooms will experience a complete overhaul,” DiamondRock said. “Residential cues, custom furnishings and commissioned artwork will transform the Lexington into a calming, luxurious respite. Through the use of art deco patterns; a mix of soft and deep color palettes; and modern furnishings, the style will be reminiscent of the iconic jazz era.”
The Lexington, located on Lexington Avenue at 48th Street, opened in 1929.
