Marriott introduces mobile check-in: Travel Weekly

Marriott International launched a mobile check-in app for its smartphone-toting Marriott Rewards subscribers.

The free app lets users process their check-in the afternoon before their arrival, then pick up their pre-programmed key card at a special desk at the hotel. The app is available on Apple iTunes and at Google Play.

Marriott International is debuting the feature at more than 300 North American hotels, including 31 Marriott-branded properties. All 325 Marriott-branded hotels in North America are scheduled have the feature by the end of the summer.

The app is part of a broader effort to increase the appeal of the Marriott brand with young travelers. Last month, Marriott launched a rebranding effort with a campaign called “Travel Brilliantly.”
