WASHINGTON -- Marriott International teamed with NCR Corp. to install check-in kiosks at three of its properties.

It is the first time that Marriott has utilized kiosks as an option for guest check-ins, according to a company spokeswoman.

The NCR EasyPoint Xpress Check-in kiosks were installed at the Newark Liberty International Airport Marriott in Newark, N.J.; the Hanover Marriott in Hanover, N.J.; and the Crystal Gateway in Washington, as part of a pilot program.

The kiosks are capable of handling room changes, room key encoding and dispensing, folio printing and guest identification. Marriott said it will also use the kiosks to deliver customized marketing promotions as well.

"Providing a self-service option allows us to streamline check-in and deliver faster service," said Steve Lampa, senior vice president of quality assurance and room operations for Marriott.

Hilton and InterContinental hotels also feature self-service check-in kiosks at certain properties.
