SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- In a push for more travel agent business, Oakwood Worldwide, a provider of corporate housing and serviced apartments, opened a centralized commissions center in Phoenix, Ariz., to track, process and pay all travel agent commissions.

Agents previously had to collect commissions from individual Oakwood locations.

Agents can book Oakwood apartments through the GDSs, call the reservations center at (866) 263-6613, e-mail [email protected] or access travel.oakwood.com.

Oakwood pays accredited ARC/IATA/TIDS agents 10% commission, capped at $350.

"Historically, serviced apartments have been a low-profile product for travel agents," said Todd Larsen, vice president of interactive sales and development for Oakwood Worldwide. "But Oakwood's recent sales growth with agents has been remarkable, and we envision a future where serviced apartments become one of the core specialties of agents, similar to cruises."
