Cheapflights, a travel search company,
launched a flight comparison Web site in Canada at www.cheapflights.ca.
"The market is
ideal for the Cheapflights product because of price competition
caused by charter flights, price discounting and low-cost
airlines," the company stated.
With offices in
London and Boston, Cheapflights already operates Web sites in the
U.K. and the U.S.
Unlike metasearch
sites like Kayak and SideStep, Cheapflights users enter their
travel details and then search Cheapflights-recommended booking
engines one at a time instead of searching dozens of Web sites
simultaneously.
Cheapflights
considers its model more supplier/advertiser-friendly than the
metasearch model.
Cheapflights has
partnerships with metasearch engines, online agencies, airlines and
aggregators.
The Canadian site
has advertising partnerships with WestJet, Sears Travel, Flight
Network, British Airways, Expedia.ca and Travelocity.ca.
The site includes a
booking engine, a deals section and flight tips.
