Priceline introduced a semi-opaque hotel-booking feature called Express Deals that discounts as much as 45% off the lowest published rate, said Priceline.
Express Deals presents the price, star rating, neighborhood and amenities to consumers, but not the hotel. Priceline discloses the hotel once the reservation is booked.
Express Deals is the third method Priceline customers can use to book hotel rooms.
Customers also can book retail rates or use the Name Your Own Price feature, in which customers pick the star rating and the neighborhood, then submit a bid. If Priceline finds a hotel willing to book at the customer's price, the hotel is booked immediately and revealed.
Name Your Own Price saves consumers up to 60% off the lowest published rate, said Priceline.
