The Seattle-based Adventure Travel Trade
Association will hold its Adventure Travel World Summit in Seattle
Oct. 19 to 21.
The gathering will
bring together about 400 adventure travel businesses to discuss
issues of the trade, including world issues like global warming and
poverty alleviation, as well as business matters such as strategic
insights, best practices and practical tools.
Keynote addresses
will be given by Wade Davis, an anthropologist and National
Geographic Explorer-in-Residence; Mary Pearl, president of Wildlife
Trust and a columnist for Discover Magazine; Joe Robinson, author
of "Work to Live: The Guide to Getting a Life"; and Brian Fagan,
professor emeritus of anthropology at the University of California,
Santa Barbara.
The event also will
feature workshops, panels and roundtables designed to give
delegates tools to help them better operate their businesses and
promote responsible adventure tourism.
