Backroads, a tour operator that specializes in active and adventure travel, has joined the United States Tour Operators Association as an active member.

The USTOA now has 53 active members.

"Backroads has helped define the active travel category, setting a high standard for immersive biking, hiking, walking and multi-adventure tours around the world," said Terry Dale, CEO of the association. "Their commitment to delivering high-quality experiences and advancing responsible travel makes them a welcome addition to USTOA."

Backroads CEO Tom Hale said he was impressed by the way USTOA members came together during the pandemic to share ideas and develop safety protocols for travelers.

Backroads offers private trips, women-only journeys, family vacations and other curated itineraries.
