Travel
agents can now book Via Rail Canada packages through Amtrak Vacations thanks to
a new partnership between Via Rail Canada and Yankee Leisure Group, Amtrak
Vacations’ parent company. Via Rail Canada is Canada’s national rail service.
The partnership
allows travel sellers to connect rail travel to and/or from any of the 500
Amtrak stations across the United States to Via Rail packages, and to earn
commission on both the Via Rail and Amtrak Vacations portions of the trip
through Amtrak Vacations.
Using
inventory from both sides of the border, the two entities have created
itineraries such as a Cross Canada vacation package that will visit Toronto and
Niagara Falls before departing on The Canadian train for a three-night journey
to the Canadian Rockies and the cities of Jasper and Banff. Travelers will end
their trip in Vancouver and can then travel to any of the cities that Amtrak
services in the United States.
There
is also a new "Capitol to Capitol" program that begins in Toronto, heads to Niagara
Falls, then on to the Canadian capital of Ottawa. From there, travelers will go
to Montreal, then New York, Philadelphia and Washington D.C.
The
Via Rail trips that Amtrak Vacations is now offering operate most days
throughout the year. Customers can also choose their level of accommodation,
both on the trains as well as for their hotel accommodations.
