MIAMI -- In its second acquisition in eight days, Far & Wide Travel Corp., based here, purchased the tour and destination management subsidiary of Banks/Sadler Group Ltd., a London-based travel company.

The Banks/Sadler unit has worked as an inbound operator for Far & Wide companies Grand European Tours, Prism Holidays and Brian Moore International Tours.

Banks/Sadler will retain its two remaining subsidiaries, a conference services business and a student study-tour operation.

The operation will be named Far & Wide-London and will be managed by its current directors, Bob Postins and Nigel Huffen. Huffen is chairman of the European Tour Operators Association.

Far & Wide will integrate the company into its Europe division, taking advantage of its experience in product development and fulfillment in European destinations, from Russia, Scandinavia and the Arctic Circle to Egypt, Israel and the Mediterranean.

Its programs include luxury cruise and train segments and sightseeing itineraries. Far & Wide acquired Adventure Center of Emeryville, Calif, June 13.

The Banks/Sadler acquisition is Far & Wide's 17th since the company made its public appearance in March 1999.
