ST. LOUIS -- Intrav's latest private jet tour is its South America By Private Jet, a 22-day trip on a Boeing 737 configured with just 44 first class seats.

The aircraft is chartered from PrivatAir of Geneva, Switzerland. Seating, down from the usual 140 seats, is spacious, meals are the quality of private catering and the service staff pampers the guests relentlessly.

As with all Intrav private jet itineraries, passengers skirt most of the hassles of commercial air travel, including customs, immigration, baggage check and baggage claim and are usually driven right up to the runway where they board with their carry-on luggage.

Departure dates are scheduled for March 3 and 24.

The 22-day itinerary includes stops in Merida on the Yucatan Peninsula; the Galapagos Islands; Lima and Cuzco, Peru; Easter Island, Chile; San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Iguacu Falls and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and conludes in Palm Beach, Fla. Also included in the program is a three-night cruise on the 90-passenger Santa Cruz in the Galapagos.

The itinerary is timed so passengers can settle in for two or three nights in each stop. Accommodations are in classic properties like the Copacabana Palace Hotel in Rio; the Llao Llao Hotel in Argentina's lake district; the Country Club Hotel in Lima, Peru, and the Park Tower Hotel in Buenos Aires.

Priced at $34,700 per person double occupancy, the tour is commissionable at 10%, or $6,940 per couple.

Intrav's reservation number is (800) 456-8100. Agents can e-mail the firm at [email protected] or visit its Web site at www.intrav.com.
