Intrepid Travel resigned its membership in the U.S. Tour Operators Association (USTOA) on July 31, a move that is a formality based on the ending of a four-year partnership between Intrepid and TUI, according to the company.

Cyndi Zesk, Intrepid’s North America president, said in a release that Intrepid values USTOA membership and has every intention of rejoining USTOA as an independent entity as soon as possible.

Until that time, Intrepid is not covered by USTOA’s $1 Million Travelers Assistance Program.

“Travel agents should be aware that payments made prior to July 31, 2015, are protected under the USTOA $1 Million Travelers Assistance Program. Client payments thereafter will not be covered by the USTOA program,” USTOA President and CEO Terry Dale said in a statement.
