MILWAUKEE -- Midwest Airlines and The Mark Travel Corp., both based here, July 10 unveiled what they touted as "the first wave of a series of business alliances that will offer new opportunities and value to leisure travelers."

Under this "first wave," Mark Travel will operate Midwest Airlines Vacations, the airline's leisure vacation program, beginning next year. For the remainder of this year, it will continue to be operated by Gogo Worldwide Vacations.

The new program will be available this fall for travel after Jan. 1, and will offer vacations to Atlanta, Boston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Nashville, New York, Orange County (Calif.), Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Antonio, San Francisco and Washington, as well as golf, Colorado ski/summer and seasonal Florida packages.

Also, beginning in December, Midwest will provide aircraft capacity to Funjet Vacations, Mark Travel's flagship brand.

Nonstop Milwaukee-Las Vegas service will be offered on scheduled service Midwest flights. To accommodate additional passengers, Midwest will add four roundtrip flights to its existing weekly schedule, for a total of 13 roundtrip flights in the market each week.

In addition, nonstop Milwaukee-Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, service and San Antonio-Las Vegas service will be devoted exclusively to Funjet Vacations passengers, flying on Midwest aircraft staffed by Midwest flight crews.

Mark Travel president and CEO Bill La Macchia said the companies "fully intend to continue to develop and expand this relationship."
