
Doran Jacobs
Longtime travel marketing executive, Doran Jacobs, 83, died
in New York earlier this month.
At the time of his death, Jacobs was president of Mighty
Marketing Group, a New York company whose many clients include Oceania Cruises,
Princess Cruises, Trafalgar, Insight Vacations, Sceptre Tours, United
Vacations, Visit Orlando and Wyndham Worldwide.
Lori Corless, Mighty Markeing's vice president of
operations, called Jacobs "a beloved friend and co-worker who touched the
lives of everyone he met in the most sincere way."
Jacobs had been president of Mighty Marketing since 2007 and
was president of travel marketing firm TAM Inc. from 2004 to 2007.
Prior to that, Jacobs enjoyed a long career working in the
charter and tour operator industries. He owned Yacht & Sports Club Charters
in the 1970s and co-founded Carefree David, an airline/vacation charter
business, in 1979.
From 1983 to 1999, Jacobs was Central Holidays' vice
president of marketing, and he had the same role at tour company roll-up Far
& Wide from 1999 to 2003.
Born in Deadwood, South Dakota, Jacobs was a University of
Nebraska graduate who served in the armed forces.
Doran is survived by wife Arlene, son Adam Jacobs, daughter
Jenny Berk and eight grandchildren.
