ASTA's Hotel Watch List is live for the public again for a two-week period starting Monday. ASTA says it will make the list public quarterly.
By making the list public, ASTA aims to "increase
transparency, strengthen accountability and encourage travel advisors to report
unpaid hotel commissions."
The list is made up of member-reported hotels that have failed to pay commission for 45 days or more after a client's stay.
While the list is usually only viewable by ASTA members, the Society said it will continue to make it public periodically for increased transparency.
Hotels are given a chance to resolve disputes before they are added to the list.
So far this year, ASTA said it has helped recover more than $45,000 in unpaid hotel commissions since it launched its reporting tool last fall. Its total goal is $100,000 this year.
The list will be publicly visible through June 29.
