WASHINGTON, D.C. — It turns out Marriott’s ads encouraging
direct booking for the lowest rates aren’t the only ones that have piqued the
attention of ASTA.
On Tuesday, ASTA CEO Zane Kerby said the society is also in
talks with Hilton about similar ads promising the best rates when booking
direct.
At the ASTA Global Convention here, Kerby confirmed
discussions are taking place with Hilton regarding its book-direct campaign.
“I think you’ll be happy there, too,” Kerby said, referencing
Marriott’s earlier decision to pull one of three video advertisements after a discussion with ASTA.
Marriott
representatives said they did not intend to offend anyone with their
advertisement, and once ASTA made them aware of the concerns, they removed the
video.
