WASHINGTON -- The State Department updated 17 consular information
sheets on foreign countries during the last couple of weeks.
Most of the updates are minor additions that would be helpful to
travelers, such as the Web address of the country's embassy or a
reminder that U.S. health insurance is not always valid outside the
U.S.
Among the few revisions that are more noteworthy, the
department's consular information sheet on Thailand has updated
information on violence near the Burma border.
The new sheet on Greece updates terrorist attacks against
prominent Greeks, adding that "the potential for terrorist
activities against U.S. and commercial interests remains high."
The sheet on France and Monaco reminds travelers to watch out
for pickpocketing and theft of luggage from rental cars, and
contains numerous tips.
Other updated consular information sheets are for Cambodia,
Central African Republic, Costa Rica, Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast),
Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, Kenya, Laos, Latvia, Poland, Slovenia,
Spain and Andorra and Sweden.
The sheets are posted on www.travel.state.gov under Travel
Warnings/Consular Information Sheets.
