Honeymoon show is very approachable

PLEASANTON, Calif. -- Love is just around the corner.

The inaugural Honeymoon & Romantic Getaways Show and Conference With Great Spas is approaching, which means agents looking to learn the ropes about selling honeymoon and romantic vacations have only a few days left to register for the event.

The conference will take place at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif., Nov. 3 and 4.

The event will bring together agents and the top suppliers in the field for networking and education on how to build a business in one of the most vibrant market segments in the travel industry. Travel Weekly is one of the sponsors of the show.

Presented by Travel Industry Shows, which produced the CruiseTour World trade show in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., last April, the Honeymoon Show will feature three keynote speakers: Tom Stanley, president of Travcoa; Richard Kelley, chairman of Outrigger Enterprises; and Nina Lawrence, vice president and publisher of the Conde Nast Bridal Group. Also slated is a guest consultant on travel trends.

The show also will present over 100 suppliers; CLIA modules that offer an opportunity to earn 42 CLIA Cruise Counselor Certification Credits; educational modules from the Travel Institute (formerly ICTA) worth three ICUs; a shipboard inspection and luncheon on board

the Carnival Pride; a Windstar breakfast; a Sandals lunch; and two days of trade show activity.

American Airlines is offering travel agent attendees AD75 positive space transportation Oct. 30 to Nov. 5. For information call the AA Ticket Redemption Center at (817) 438-5522. Bookings will be accepted up to 24 hours prior to departure.

Suppliers and agents attending the show are eligible for $99-per-night rates at the Westin Long Beach, the conference hotel.

"I think this show will lay the groundwork for much bigger honeymoon shows in the future," conference chairman Martin Deutsch said.

Other sponsors of the show include Travel Age West, CLIA, the U.S. Tour Operators Association and Modern Agent.

The Travel Institute is participating as an educational partner.

Cosponsors include Giants, Travelsavers, the Outside Sales Support Network and the Pacific Asia Travel Association.
