Three contend for ASTA treasurer post

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Three candidates are vying for the post of national treasurer in the 2000 ASTA elections, which also will determine contested races in seven even-numbered areas.

Candidates for treasurer are: Rolfe Duggar, Area 6, Southeast Chapter, Duggar Travel Agency, St. Petersburg, Fla.; Vicky Sanmartino, Gordon Travel Service, Pittsburgh, and Mary Louise Selfert, Area 16, Arizona & Rocky Mountain Chapter, Welcome Aboard Vacation Center, Scottsdale, Ariz.

ASTA vice president, Richard Copland, Eltee Travel, Bronx, N.Y.; secretary Kathryn Sudeikis, All About Travel, Mission, Kan., and treasurer Eric Ardolino, A&S Travel Center, Wallingford, Conn., are uncontested for president, vice president and secretary, respectively.

Contested races include:

  • Area 2 director: Franklin Curhan, Southern Nevada Chapter, Preferred Travel Services, Las Vegas, Nev., and Susan Dushane, Southern California Chapter, Travel by Greta, Northbridge, Calif. Both are members of the Chapter Presidents Council.
  • Area 6 director: Joseph Bouknight, Forest Lake Travel, Columbia, S.C.; Gerry Conway, Southeast Chapter President, CWT/Peachtree Vacations, Dawsonville, Ga., (a member of the Chapter Presidents Council), and Anne Neroni, Carolina Travel, Calabash, N.C.
  • Southeast Chapter:
  • Vice president: Susan Aft, First Discount, Atlanta, Ga., and Vickie Greenlee, For Travelers Only, Jackson, Miss.

  • Southwest Chapter:
  • President: Erma Bridges, Affordable Travel , Benton, Ark., and Betty Clement, Southwest Chapter president, Adventure in Travel, Paris, Texas.

    First vice president: Carol Forrester, the Travel Store, Amarillo, Texas, and Darby Ann Trovato, Darby's Travel, Houston.

    Second vice president: Doris Champion, active associate independent member, Lockhart, Texas; Lynda Lemke, Lynda's Travel Service Inc., Siloam Springs, Ark.

    Secretary: Dawn Buckley Ellzey, Midway International Travel, Grand Prairie, Texas, and Micki Sander, Leisure Travel Desk, Dallas.

    Treasurer: Nita Shuhart Alexander, Allen Travel Service, Allen, Texas, and Fran Lindsey, Oasis Travel, Palestine, Texas.

  • Central & North Florida Chapter:
  • Vice president: Nancy Morris, VIP World Travel of Florida, Sarasota, Fla.; Sylvia Reina, Getaway Travel, Tampa, Fla.; Lloyd Miller, Canterbury Travel, Winter Park, Fla., and Robert Robar, Travel Center of Gainesville, Fla.
