Expedia reports rising revenues

BELLEVUE, Wash. -- Expedia reported a 115% revenue increase year-over-year to $76 million in the quarter that ended Sept. 30, its fiscal year 2001 first quarter.

In addition, its net loss was $1.6 million while gross travel bookings jumped 108% year-over-year to $467 million.

Expedia said it expects its operating loss to increase in the next quarter because of increased investments in sales and marketing.
