ROCKVILLE, Md. -- Former Rosenbluth International vice president
Dean Sivley has entered the on line travel fray as president and
chief executive of a Atlas Travel Technologies Inc., a joint
venture company partially owned by Amadeus.
Atlas Travel Technologies is a unit of Atlas Travle Technolgies
Pty. Ltd., itself a joint venture company whose majority owner is
Telstra, the Australian-based telecommunications giant. Amadeus and
an Australian travel firm called JetSet are the two other partners
in the firm.
Atlas Travel is scheduled to launch TravelRes Direct, which the
company claims will be the largest online leisure travel and
booking site on the World Wide Web, in conjunction with several
other partners, according to Sivley.
"This is a remarkable time for online travel," Sivley said.
"People are flocking to the Web to shop for travel. Through
TravelRes Direct, we will offer them the unique opportunity to plan
and build their own leisure vacations or select customer leisure
travel packages from some of the world's leading tour
operators."
Sivley said Atlas will build on travel-related businesses
currently operated by its joint-venture partners. These include
Moneydirect, an electronic payment system specificially designed
for the travel industry, and Atlas 2000, a tour management system
used by travel organizations throughout the world.
