Travelport and Hopper, a mobile flight-booking application, have entered into an expanded technology partnership, the GDS said this week. Hopper is using the Travelport Universal API and shopping-data products to make flight recommendations for travelers.

Hopper, launched in 2015, analyzes data to predict the best time to buy flights.

The mobile application predicts when flights will be the cheapest and will recommend users either wait or book their flight at the time of the search. If they choose to wait, the app can monitor their search and send them notifications when the prices drop.

"Our work with Hopper is a great example of Travelport's commitment to engage with early-stage companies who recognize the value that our industry-leading technology gives them to boost their success and future growth," Chris Zando, Travelport's vice president of partnerships and alliances, said in a statement.
