Uninjured passengers from the capsized Costa Concordia will be compensated with payments of $14,400 each, according to published reports.

Costa will enter into separate agreements with injured passengers as well as the families of those who died, the reports indicate.

The reports say that the lump-sum payments would be in addition to the cost of the cruise as well as homeward-bound travel expenses after the disaster off the coast of Italy, where 16 have died and at least that many are still missing.

Costa Cruises said it was finalizing a statement about the compensation plan Friday morning.
