Expedia.com is partnering with
Wingz, enabling customers to book rides with the peer-to-peer airport
pickup service.
“Integrating
Wingz into Expedia.com’s booking path offers travelers a consistent, affordable
experience to and from the airport,” said Nikki Krishnamurthy, Expedia's senior vice president.
Wingz is
a pre-booked, flat-rate, peer-to-peer ride service. All drivers are record-checked
and provided with a $1 million liability insurance policy. Airport pickup, the
company’s sole focus, is currently available in about 15 airports in the
western half of the country.
In 2010, Wingz started as a ride-share company similar to Uber and Lyft, CEO
Chris Brandon said. But when Uber and Lyft started to become
more popular, Wingz shifted its focus.
The
company will be nationwide by 2017, according to the CEO, and as it becomes
available in more airports, Expedia.com users will be able to book the service
for those locations, as well.
