Anguilla's new Beyond Extraordinary promotional campaign, launched in December in the U.S. and Canada, is designed to position the island to better compete in today's tourism arena for travelers and travel planners, according to Donna Banks, chairwoman of the Anguilla Tourist Board.

"The campaign represents a greater investment by the [tourist board] in the transformation of our marketing to embrace digital and mobile strategies," Banks said.

"We believe there are beautiful islands as well as those that offer truly extraordinary experiences, and then there is Anguilla -- beyond extraordinary. We intend to deliver on that," she said.

To drive home her point, Banks cited the people of Anguilla and the island's beaches as well as its cuisine, heritage, arts, entertainment and luxury accommodations as beyond extraordinary.

One component of the campaign is the new website that features an interactive map of the island, an event calendar, a custom itinerary builder to organize  personal travel experiences and a section entitled Editor's Picks with suggested itineraries for three, five or seven-day trips geared to individual interests, including family fun, culture and history, romance and adventure.
