Beaches Turks & Caicos will welcome guests beginning on Dec. 21,  "and I couldn't be more excited," said Adam Stewart, deputy chairman of Sandals Resorts International. The resort has been closed since March due to the pandemic.

The reopening date had been a moving target, first planned for June and then October. The date was again pushed back to November and beyond pending the resolution of a tax issue.

"It's been a complex situation, but we had excellent discussions with government officials to resolve the issue, and we are ready to roll out the welcome mat for our new and returning guests. I plan to be in the lobby on reopening day to greet our first visitors," Stewart said.

Beaches Turks & Caicos features five villages with Italian, French, Key West and Caribbean themes. It will be the last of the three Beaches resorts to reopen; Beaches Negril has already reopened, and Beaches Ocho Rios is scheduled to reopen on Dec. 18. A fourth is planned for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
