Guests booking Richard Branson’s private Necker Island retreat in the British Virgin Islands have a new toy, now that the three-person Necker Nymph has launched.
It's not a mermaid, as the name suggests, but is an "aero submarine" -- an underwater winged aircraft. The vessel glides on the water’s surface like an airplane on a runway, and then can then dive under the water to explore shipwrecks, reefs, and marine life.
Guests on the Nymph follow standard scuba procedures and are accompanied by a certified Necker Nymph pilot. Dives can last up to two hours.
The vessel can be launched from the Branson's Necker Belle catamaran or from shore.
The sub is available at a weekly rate of $25,000.
