Funeral services for Arley Sobers, the Caribbean Tourism Organization's interim secretary general and director of research and information management, will take place Friday at St. Leonard's Anglican Church in St. Michael, Barbados.

Sobers, 61, died Aug. 14 in New York on a CTO business-related visit.

Naming of an interim head is expected to be announced later this week, according to CTO officials.

Tributes continued to pour in from around the world for Sobers, who had served with the CTO for more than 20 years.

He had been named CTO's interim head on July 3, replacing Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace who stepped down from the post to become minister of tourism for the Bahamas.

Sobers also filled the interim vacancy left when Jean Holder stepped down from the post in 2005.

Sobers lived in Barbados and is survived by his wife and two grown children.
