Colombia-based GHL Hoteles International will operate the Kura Hulanda Hotel & Spa and the Kura Hulanda Lodge & Beach Club in Curacao.

Both properties, which have been closed since the end of October, will reopen soon after GHL takes over the management on Dec. 1, according to a statement from the Curacao Hospitality and Tourism Association.

The properties had been managed by Netherlands-based Sandton Hotels since late 2011.

GHL manages more than 50 hotels in seven countries in Latin America under various brands, including Sonesta, Sheraton, Wyndham, Hilton Garden Inn and Howard Johnson. The Kura Hulanda properties are the first in the Caribbean for the company.

The 80-room hotel in Willemstad is part of a village complex known as Project Kura Hulanda (the words mean "Dutch courtyard"), which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The 77-room lodge on Curacao's west end is a beachfront retreat an hour from the capital.
