Andy LazarusAndrew Lazarus, founder of New York public-relations company A. J. Lazarus Associates, died last month in Portland, Ore. Lazarus was 87.

Lazarus started his business in 1968 with one travel client, the Eurailpass Committee. His firm remained the agency of record for Eurailpass, the French Rail and finally Rail Europe for 40 years.

Among the agency’s other clients were Lindblad Travel, Pakistani Airlines, Concorde Hotels & Resorts, Norwegian Coastal Voyage, the Tourist Office of Slovakia and Eurostar.

Lazarus retired in 2004 and was succeeded by his daughter, Chris Lazarus, who joined the business in 1992 and moved the agency to Portland in 2011.

He is survived by his wife Raili, daughter Chris and son John.
