St. Maarten introduced a new program that offers discounts and perks to IATA-registered travel agents from September through November.

The initiative will allow agents to take advantage of special rates at accommodations, restaurants, retail stores and experiences.

More than 20 hotels throughout the island are extending special rates of $75 to $145 per night as well as upgrades and on-site food and beverage discounts. Specials from three participating restaurants include complimentary cocktails, and four others are offering up to 20% off.

Rainforest Adventures, the Caribbean Brewing Co. and tours such as a catamaran cruise with Pyratz, bicycling with Tri-Sport and horseback riding at Seaside Nature Park offer deals to agents, as well.

"St. Maarten and its local partners are proud to extend this program to travel agents, so they may better familiarize themselves with the island's easy accessibility from major cities, our range of accommodation offerings and variety of experiences, so they are able to provide their clients with first-hand knowledge," said May-Ling Chun, director of tourism.
