The 17-cottage Tensing Pen, a boutique resort on the western tip of Jamaica, announced expansion plans that include upgrades to the bar and dining areas, the addition of several sundecks along the Caribbean seafront as well as four new cottages.

Construction for the first phase is slated to run from July to September.

Each of the existing hand-carved, thatch and cut stone cottages is handcrafted by local tradesmen. The resort also offers treetop bungalows, open-air dining, ocean swimming and cliff diving.

Guests can rent out the entire resort for family gatherings, weddings or large parties. A swimming pool, spa services and yoga are available. Activities include mountain biking, diving, parasailing and snorkeling.

Summer rates start at $170 per night, double.
