Uber
has arrived in Puerto Rico, the second Caribbean destination for the
ride-booking service following last year's launch in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Uber
offered free rides in San Juan on July 11 to celebrate the launch.
Thousands
of drivers had reportedly signed up ahead of the launch,
following Uber's announcement in April that it planned to start operations
in Puerto Rico this summer.
There are reports of opposition from local taxi drivers.
