Oceania Cruises said it will have free internet capability
for all guests starting in April.
The line previously offered an internet-included package to
guests in Concierge Veranda and Penthouse Suite accommodations, and free
unlimited internet to guests in Oceania, Vista and Owner's suites.
The policy change coincides with installation of a new
high-speed internet service called Wavenet, which Oceania said will enable
travelers to "upload and download large files in a snap, enjoy their
favorite shows on Netflix, stream their favorite playlist on Spotify and
instantly share their Oceania Cruises' memories on Facebook and Instagram."
Oceania said a $9.99 per day streaming upgrade would apply
to guests who stream movies, music or videos.
One of Oceania's competitors in the upper-premium segment,
Viking Ocean Cruises, already offers free unlimited Internet. Another, Azamara
Cruises, charges $19.95 a day for full-voyage unlimited internet.
