The Allure of the Seas is slated to undergo a modernization based on what Royal Caribbean has learned from Icon of the Seas, Royal Caribbean Group CEO Jason Liberty said during the group's Q4 earnings call last week.
The early Oasis-class ship, which entered service in December 2010, was in line for a 58-day, $165 million refurbishment in 2020, but the pandemic delayed the project.
Liberty hinted that the upgrades could address sustainability as well as the guest experience "so that our fleet stays relevant and competitive," he said.
Royal Caribbean would not comment on the project, including when the updates are scheduled. Cruise Industry News reports that a major refurbishment is expected during the ship's drydock in early 2025.
