Carnival Corp.: Regal Princess to stay with Princess fleet

MIAMI -- Carnival Corp. decided not to reposition the Regal Princess into its U.K.-based Ocean Village fleet.

Instead, Carnival said Aug. 4, one of its ships from the German-market AIDA fleet, the AIDAblu, will be transferred to Ocean Village in spring 2007.

The 14-year-old Regal Princess will stay with the Princess fleet.

Keeping the Regal Princess with Princess will enable the brand to maximize its earnings potential, Carnival said. In addition, since the AIDAblu and Ocean Villages current vessel are sister ships, the AIDAblu will only need minor modifications to make it part of the Ocean Village product line.

Princess added that the Regal Princess' winter 2006/2007 deployment will include 10- to 19-day Panama Canal cruises and four South America cruises -- two that sail down the Amazon River and two that sail in the Andes and Peru.
