The Carnival Dream experienced "a technical problem with the ship’s thrusters," during a seven-day voyage that departed July 9, Carnival Cruise Lines said.

The problem resulted in a modified itinerary. The original itinerary included Cozumel, Roatan and Costa Maya, but the ship instead visited Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maarten.

Each guest received a $100 shipboard credit and was offered the option of canceling and receiving a full refund or credit for a future cruise.

The Carnival Dream operates year-round Caribbean voyages from Port Canaveral, Fla.

The ship’s July 16 Eastern Caribbean cruise is operating normally, the line said.
