In 2028, Carnival Cruise Line's newest hardware will be sailing from Texas.

The cruise line announced Friday that the more than 6,000-passenger Carnival Tropicale, launching in 2028, will homeport in Galveston.

Following the debut of the Carnival Festivale in April 2027, which will homeport in Florida's Port Canaveral, the Tropicale will be the cruise line's fifth Excel-class ship.

The Carnival Jubilee, which launched in 2024, was the most recent new ship that Carnival placed in Galveston.

Itineraries for the Tropicale have not yet been announced.

The two upcoming Excel-class ships will have a three-deck recreational space called Sunsation Point, which will include a six-slide waterpark. The waterpark will be Carnival's first to stay open in the evening.

The cruise line is also swapping out Family Harbor staterooms, found on other Excel-class ships, for 1,000 interconnecting rooms.
