Buffeted by high winds, two Carnival Cruise Line ships
collided near the pier in Cozumel, leaving a smashed indentation in the back of
the Carnival Glory.
The Carnival Legend appeared to drift into the aft of the
Carnival Glory. In a statement, Carnival said that one passenger sustained
minor injuries when a group of guests was evacuated on Decks 3 and 4.
Dockside videos of the impact show small pieces of the
Carnival Glory breaking off and dropping into the ocean. They also show the
ship coming very close to a second impact with Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the
Seas.
Carnival said it is assessing damage to both of its ships
but said they aren’t severe enough to prevent either from sailing.
