The steel was cut for Celebrity Cruises' fourth Edge-class ship, which will be called the Celebrity Ascent. The ship is scheduled to debut in early 2023.

"The name of this new ship is very apropos as the industry rebounds, but also as Celebrity continues to lead the industry as an unmatched new-luxury brand and cruise line," said Richard Fain, CEO of Celebrity parent company Royal Caribbean Group. "Celebrity Ascent will take the industry to new heights as it pushes the boundaries of what people can experience on a ship and how they experience it."

Celebrity's third Edge-class ship, the Celebrity Beyond, is slated to embark on its maiden cruise on April 27.

The Edge-class ships are being built at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France.
