The Celebrity Millennium became the first large ship to operate a cruise in North America in more than a year, departing Philipsburg, St. Maarten, on June 5 on a seven-day sailing.

It is Celebrity’s first time homeporting in St. Maarten. The Millennium will visit Aruba, Barbados and Curacao in a series of eastern and western Caribbean itineraries running through August.

Celebrity CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo tweeted about the cruise on the day the ship departed.

The ship is operating with a vaccinated crew and at least 95% vaccinated guests, among other health and safety protocols. Passengers do not need to wear masks onboard, in accordance with recent CDC guidance for sailings with vaccinated crew and guests.

Celebrity has plans to launch eight of its 14 ships as part of its phased restart. The Celebrity Apex will launch from Athens on June 19; the Celebrity Edge from Fort Lauderdale on June 26; the Celebrity Silhouette from the U.K. on July 3; three ships from the Galapagos (Celebrity Flora on July 3, Celebrity Xpedition on July 24 and Celebrity Xploration on Sept. 18); and the Celebrity Summit to Alaska from Seattle on July 23. ly
