Hurtigruten Americas president John Downey will leave the company effective May 14 to take a position outside of the travel industry, the Norwegian cruise brand said.
Hurtigruten said it will soon commence recruitment for a new president for its Americas brand.

Downey has been with the company since March 2019. According to Hurtigruten, the company set new sales records and significantly increased the brand's presence in the North American market under his leadership. He came to Hurtigruten from Amazon in 2019.
In October, Hurtigruten separated its expedition side from its domestic operations, forming Hurtigruten Expeditions and Hurtigruten Norway.
