Lindblad acquires Orion Expedition Cruises: Travel Weekly

Lindblad Expeditions said it has acquired Orion Expedition Cruises, a small-ship operator in Australia. Terms weren't disclosed.

Lindblad, which cruises in partnership with the National Geographic Society, said the purchase brings the 102-guest Orion, which will increase Lindblad's cruise capacity by 18%.

The ship will be renamed National Geographic Orion when it joins Lindblad's fleet in March 2014. It will continue to be managed from Sydney.

Additional details regarding U.S. sales, itineraries and onboard experiences will be released in the coming months.
