The MSC Splendida became MSC Cruises' fifth ship to return to sailing, embarking on a seven-night Eastern Mediterranean cruise from Trieste, Italy, over the weekend.

Already, the MSC Grandiosa and MSC Seaside were deployed in the Western Mediterranean, while the MSC Orchestra is sailing in the Eastern Mediterranean and the MSC Virtuoso is sailing in the U.K. on sailings just for British guests.

The Splendida is sailing under MSC's health and safety measures for Europe cruises, which includes proof of a negative Covid-19 test before sailing. The new protocols were first introduced on MSC Grandiosa last summer.

Other ships are set to reenter service next month: MSC Magnifica in the Eastern Mediterranean, MSC Seaview in the Baltic Sea and MSC Seashore in the Western Mediterranean.
