MIAMI -- Norwegian Cruise Line said it will promote its fleet of
ships on its Web site using new visual content which affords 360
degree, moving views of the vessels' interiors.
Such virtual tours are now available at www.ncl.com for the
company's newest ship, the Norwegian Sky, according to the line.
Virtual views of the fleet's other ships are expected to be
available by March 31.
The technology is being provided by Internet Pictures Corp.
through its iPIX visual system.
According to a spokeswoman for the company, which has offices in
Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Palo Alto, Calif., the iPIX virtual tours
have previously been implemented on many travel industry Web sites,
including those of other cruise lines.
"The Norwegian Sky is our new flagship, and we want to give
people the opportunity to come on board and experience all this
beautiful vessel has to offer," said Michael K. Pawlus, vice
president of strategic planning for NCL.
"With the power of the Internet and iPIX visual content,
visitors can step into the ship's staterooms and public areas to
experience the Norwegian Sky," Pawlus added.
