Tour operators are plotting their return to Jordan after many have paused itineraries there due to the ongoing Gaza war.
Intrepid Travel, G Adventures, Tauck, Trafalgar and Exodus Adventure Travels have all announced plans to resume Jordan trips. The war between Israel and Hamas has devastated Jordan's tourism industry, causing it to plummet as much as 90%.
Intrepid will offer two to three departure dates in June and July.
G Adventures plans to resume tours there beginning Aug. 1. The operator held its annual GX Summit there last September, giving the country a much-needed tourism boost.
Tauck, which canceled its Israel and Jordan departures for the year, has resumed its Jordan and Egypt itineraries. The company has a "robust" season ahead, the company said, adding that guests have given the Jordan/Egypt itinerary some of the highest NPS scores in the line's global portfolio.
Trafalgar is slated to return to Jordan in July, though it continues to monitor developments in the region.
Exodus will restart trips in July and is seeing strong demand for its return. Bookings for its six itineraries as of February were up 18% year over year.
"It's a destination that means a great deal to us -- not just for its incredible landscapes, but for the local communities we work closely with on the ground," said Exodus sales director Brendan Phelan. "Encouragingly, we've already started to see new bookings come through in the past week, which is a positive sign of returning confidence as well as customers who unfortunately had their trips canceled coming back to rebook."
