Norwegian Cruise Line's onboard drink packages will no longer apply to private island Great Stirrup Cay, beginning in March.

NCL is introducing a beverage package for Great Stirrup Cay, which will open for purchase on New Year's Day. Details are coming at a later date.

NCL is changing policy as it introduces new features at Great Stirrup Cay this winter, including a new pier, pool area, kids splash pad and adults-only area. It will open a waterpark next summer.

There will be complimentary beverages offered on Great Stirrup Cay, including water, iced tea, juice and other drinks.

Carnival Cruise Line similarly does not allow passengers to use their onboard beverage package to get drinks on Celebration Key, the line's new Bahamian private destination.
