Norwegian Cruise Line on Monday unveiled details of its new policy of requiring final payment 120 days prior to departure, announced last week by CEO Frank Del Rio at Travel Weekly's CruiseWorld conference.

The 120-day policy goes into effect for all cruise bookings of seven nights or longer, beginning Dec. 18, 2017. All cruises shorter than seven night will require full payment 90 days prior to the sail date for non-suite stateroom categories.

Bookings for suites and the Haven on short cruises will continue to require final payment 120 days before departure.

In a letter to agents, Norwegian Cruise Line senior vice president of sales Camille Olivere said the new policy "will allow you to receive your commissions 30 days early, help simplify the booking experience for you, help ensure that your clients who book early will receive optimal pricing and stateroom choice, and further allow you to sell with confidence."
