Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic unveiled newly redesigned suites on the National Geographic Explorer.

The redesign of the polar expedition ship first built in 1982 was part of a refurbishment at the Astilleros Canarios (ASTICAN) shipyard in Spain in May. The last refurbishment was in 2017.

Suites on the 148-passenger ship were redesigned in partnership with Hamburg interior design studio Partner Ship Design and Swedish marine outfitter HF Interior. The suites now reflect the Scandinavian design common on the brand's polar fleet, such as the National Geographic Endurance and the National Geographic Resolution.

Updates include light Scandinavian oak wood, bronze features and textured fabrics with the colors of aqua. The refreshed suites also include what the Lindblad calls a "command center" with tech and tools such as a barometer, a National Geographic Atlas, a television with both ship navigation and entertainment, an in-room espresso maker, and multiple USB and universal electric ports for cameras and other devices.

The line is also introducing a new "suite exclusives package" giving guests a welcome gift upon embarkation, priority booking for spa and wellness treatments, and complimentary laundry service.
