The Norwegian Aura's headline production will be "Whitney: A Celebration of Whitney Houston," a show created in partnership with the Estate of Whitney E. Houston and Primary Wave Music.

The Aura, the third ship in NCL's Prima Plus class, enters service next May.

NCL said the Whitney Houston tribute will be a "contemporary concert experience created exclusively for NCL."

Bryan White, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings' vice president of entertainment production, said the show "reimagines Whitney's legendary catalogue through contemporary arrangements, dynamic storytelling, stunning visuals and powerful live performances."

White added that the Whitney Houston production "follows the success of our Vegas residency-inspired Prince and Elton John productions on Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna, respectively."

Staged in the three-story Aura Theatre & Club, the 45-minute production will combine "live vocals, a live band, stunning visuals and performances extending beyond the main stage to create an immersive experience," NCL said.

The Aura's entertainment lineup also will feature "Illuminox: Infinite Wonder Unboxed," described as an "original illusion spectacular blending acrobatics and visual effects."

"The Vinyl Republic" will be a live music event inspired by the legacy of vinyl records. "Spanning genres from country and rock to funk, blues and pop, the band delivers high-energy performances where no two shows are ever the same," NCL said.

Adults-only show coming to the Aura

Further, NCL is bringing "LunaTique: Pop Circus" to the Aura. LunaTique is an adults-only, late-night show that debuted on the Norwegian Luna. Priced at $45 per person on the Luna, LunaTique is described as "an immersive, boundary-pushing experience where a troupe of bawdy, risque circus performers take center stage."

The performers interact with the audience.

"Fueled by pop hits, crass comedy, and interactive surprises, LunaTique is a high-energy, campy cabaret where nothing is sacred or off-limits," NCL says.

The Aura will debut on May 21, sailing a seven-day Mediterranean cruise from Trieste, Italy, to Barcelona. Then the ship will do a transatlantic cruise to Miami, the Aura's homeport for its inaugural season.
